Nationalbred Horses
Should have an intelligent and neat head, well-shaped pointed ears, clear and alert eyes, and a tapered muzzle. The neck should be of moderate length. The shoulders should be short with good coupling at the loins. The chest should be of good proportion and width. The body should be deep in the girth and well ribbed. The croup should be moderately sloped. The hips should be well muscled. Should not possess the extreme fineness of the Saddlebred, yet will not have the coarseness of the Walkingbred. Motion will not be as elastic as a Saddlebred, yet more fluid motion than the Walkingbred. Horse should have moderate animated hock action. To be registered at time of foaling, the foal must have a DNA registered Tennessee Walking Horse parent and a DNA registered American Saddlebred parent or both parents must be a DNA registered Nationalbred. Commissioned Horses that meet the current conformation and gait requirements are eligible for being commissioned as a Nationalbred. A current video showing the horse under saddle at a rack for a minimum of 30 seconds going in both directions, without saddle showing the front, both sides, and back of horses’ conformation. Any horses in which their DNA proves them to be a purebred breed, will not be eligible for any Nationalbred Registration.
#1. Allow horses that meet the current conformation and gait of a Nationalbred, to be eligible for being commissioned as a Nationalbred.
#2. Horses will be commissioned by Board of Directors approved commissioners.
#3. A current video showing the horse under saddle at a rack for a minimum of 30 seconds going both directions and a video showing the
horses conformation without a saddle, showing the front, sides and back of the horse. Video is then sent a commissioner for approval.
#4. Commissioned horses will receive a Type Card to allow horse to show in any Nationalbred Class and will receive DNA
Application to be submitted within 60 days of being Commissioned. Failure to submit within 60 days will result in horse not being
allowed to show until DNA is returned.
#5. Commissioned Horses will receive Registration Papers once approved DNA results are back.
#6. Any horses in which their DNA proves them to being a purebred breed, will not be eligible for any Nationalbred Registration.
*Any member in good standings of National Gaited Horse Association attains the rights to file a protest of DNA results.
